Affiliate disclosure
Plain-English details of how this site makes money.
The short version
Some links on this website are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy a product or subscription, the company may pay us a commission. This doesn't cost you anything extra. It's how we keep the site free to use.
Which links are affiliate links?
- "Visit" buttons and other links that go through an address starting
/go/on this site are, or may become, affiliate links. - We mark these links as sponsored in the page code (
rel="sponsored"), in line with search-engine guidance. - Links to a vendor's pricing page or other sources are ordinary links and don't earn us anything.
- Not every tool we cover has an affiliate programme. Some of our recommendations earn us nothing.
Does this affect our reviews?
No. Our ratings follow a public scoring rubric, and whether a tool pays commission isn't one of the criteria. Vendors can't pay for a place in our rankings or a better score. If a tool isn't right for small businesses, we'll say so, whether or not it has an affiliate programme.
Our commitments
We aim to follow the spirit of UK advertising and consumer-protection guidance from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA): commercial relationships should be clear and upfront, and shouldn't mislead you. That's why:
- every guide starts with a disclosure line before any links;
- every tool page notes that Visit links may be affiliate links;
- the site footer links to this page on every page.
