Systeme.io free plan: what you really get in 2026

Systeme.io's free plan is one of the most generous all-in-one free tiers around, but there are real limits: one automation rule, one email campaign and a $10,000 total-sales cap.

The short verdict

Yes, it's genuinely usable. For a sole trader, coach or small online business that sells services or digital products, Systeme.io's free plan covers a landing page, a sales funnel, a checkout, a course and unlimited email sends to up to 2,000 contacts, with no credit card and no end date. The catches are that you only get one automation rule and one email campaign, and free accounts can process up to $10,000 in total sales before you must upgrade to keep taking payments.

What's included for free

Systeme.io is an all-in-one platform: sales funnels and landing pages, email marketing, online courses, a blog, a checkout that connects to Stripe or PayPal, a booking calendar and even your own affiliate programme. The free plan gives you a working version of almost every one of these, which is unusual. Most free tiers elsewhere give you one tool (just email, or just a page builder).

According to Systeme.io's pricing FAQ (checked 22 October 2026), the free plan supports up to 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 blog, 1 course with up to 500 students, 1 affiliate programme and 1 custom domain, with unlimited email sends. It has no end date and doesn't need a credit card. Every plan, including Free, comes with unlimited sub-accounts, each with the same limits as your main plan, and Systeme.io charges 0% transaction fees (Stripe or PayPal still charge their own processing fees).

The limits that matter

These are the points to know before you build your business on the free plan:

  • One automation rule and one email campaign. Systeme.io's FAQ lists these lower limits for Free. In practice that's enough for a single "tag new subscribers and send the welcome email" rule, but not a full set of automated follow-ups. Unlimited newsletters (one-off broadcasts) aren't the same as campaigns, which are automated email sequences.
  • $10,000 total sales cap. The FAQ says free accounts can process up to $10,000 in total sales. Once you reach that, you have 3 days to upgrade to keep accepting payments. That's a good problem to have, but plan for it.
  • Inactivity rule. Free accounts with no login or activity for 6 months are deactivated, per the same FAQ. Log in occasionally if you're parking a project.
  • USD pricing. If you upgrade, plans are listed in US dollars, so the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate.

Who the free plan suits

  • Coaches, consultants and tutors who want a lead-magnet page, a booking calendar and a simple paid offer.
  • Course creators testing a first course before paying for a dedicated course platform. See our Systeme.io vs Kajabi comparison if you are weighing a premium option.
  • Side projects that need a landing page, an email list and a checkout, without four separate subscriptions.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Physical-product shops on Shopify. Systeme.io can sell physical products, but Shopify plus a dedicated email tool is usually a better fit. Our best free email marketing tools guide covers the options.
  • Businesses that need lots of email automation on day one. With one automation rule, you will outgrow Free quickly. Either budget for Startup or compare MailerLite's free plan, which allows 3 active automations but only 250 subscribers (checked Oct 2026; see our MailerLite review).

When to upgrade (and to what)

Systeme.io's own guidance is simple: stay on Free under 2,000 contacts, move to Startup ($17/month, 5,000 contacts, 10 funnels, 10 automation rules, 5 courses) between 2,000 and 5,000 contacts, Webinar ($47/month, 10,000 contacts, evergreen webinars) up to 10,000, and Unlimited ($97/month) beyond that. In our view, the most common reason a small business upgrades early isn't contacts at all; it's needing more than one automation rule. If your plan relies on automated follow-up emails, assume you'll be on Startup.

Upgrading or cancelling is self-service. Systeme.io says that if you cancel, you keep your paid plan until the next billing date and then the account reverts to Free.

Free plan vs the alternatives

For comparison (all checked October 2026 on official pricing pages): MailerLite's free plan covers 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month; Kit's free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers but no visual automations or sequences. Neither includes a course platform or sales funnels with order bumps and upsells. If you want the full side-by-side, read Systeme.io vs MailerLite vs Kit.

How to get the most from the free plan

  1. Connect your own domain (one custom domain is included) so pages and emails look professional.
  2. Use your single automation rule for the job that matters most, usually tagging new sign-ups and starting their welcome email.
  3. Set up Stripe or PayPal before you launch, and test a purchase.
  4. Authenticate your sending domain (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) using Systeme.io's help docs to protect deliverability.
  5. If you also want automations between Systeme.io and other apps, Make's free plan (1,000 credits a month) can fill gaps; see our Make free plan guide.

Bottom line

Systeme.io's free plan is the cheapest way we know of to launch a funnel, a course and an email list in one place, which is why Systeme.io is ranked #1 on our list (9.2/10). Go in knowing the one-automation limit and the $10,000 sales cap, and it's an easy recommendation for UK sole traders selling expertise or digital products.
